A typical day for a scrum master depends on the sprint length or cadence: one week or two week sprints. Three weeks and four week sprints are usually very junior teams and highlights issues related to content (only tech) or multitasking in various other projects.

A typical day starts like this:

  • cheering people while arriving at work or checking your emails when working from home
  • attending daily meeting: sensing team’s mood, noticing blockers, noticing impediments
  • working on the impediments
  • meeting stakeholders
  • meeting the Agile Transformation Team
  • Updating Jira and preparing reports for the PMOs
  • prepare planned workshops (usually 2/3 per week)
  • analyze and document previous workshop outcomes
  • attend meetings: management committee, portfolio meeting, QA meeting
  • gather with Tech coaches
  • attend one to one coaching meeting at the coffee corner
  • work with the PO
  • work with the testers
  • work with the integrators
  • work with business
  • read books
  • go lunch with the team
  • for distributed teams: attend the daily work end meeting, the daily to close the day.

On my business card, I wrote Agile Coach. My Agile coaching is an evolution of systemic coaching putting myself in the system and not as an outstanding observer
